  23. unveils the long awaited spreadsheet application QUESTOR, as a
  24. major software contribution to the NEXTSTEP Operating Environment.
  25. The backbone of QUESTOR is a conventional matrix-based spreadsheet
  26. application that can easily be used by anybody that has once used
  27. spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel, Lotus 123, Lotus
  28. Improv, or Wingz. QUESTOR is a spreadsheet specifically designed to
  29. take advantage of the graphically rich NEXTSTEP environment, with
  30. some inherently powerful features:

  32.  - A structured scripting language - QScript with an "intelligent"
  33. editor including automatic "pretty-printing" and programming
  34. support. QScript allows you to customize your worksheet to perform
  35. very specific tasks.
  36.  
  37. QScript is an extended version of Xanthus Common Language (XCL), a
  38. uniform scripting language used in all Xanthus software products
  39. with scripting capabilities. XCL gives you a uniform scripting
  40. syntax and a common set of basic functions. In addition, XCL allows
  41. you to write extended functions in XCL or Objective-C that can be
  42. used by any XCL-based application from Xanthus.

  44.  - Input controller buttons, text-fields and sliders can be
  45. "dragged-and-dropped" anywhere on a worksheet and connected to
  46. QScript code or directly to cells by control-dragging.

  48.  - Output objects like graphs and gauges can be dragged-and-dropped
  49. anywhere on a worksheet and connected to cell areas by
  50. control-dragging for continuous updating.

  52.  - Many graph types are supported, including bar, stacked bar,
  53. line, combination, stock, area, stacked area, scatter (x-y plot)
  54. and pie.

  56.  - Hot-links to the business graphics application Graphity from
  57. Xanthus (like Improv and Presentation Builder from Lotus.) Graphity
  58. is a business graphics application from Xanthus that supports 3-D
  59. graphs.

  62. using the Database Kit in NEXTSTEP.

  64.  - Timers that can trigger complex calculations, database queries
  65. or any other event at regular intervals.

  68. control and send data to other applications. The API also makes it
  69. easy for other applications to control Questor and to feed data

  74. and sorting data. The ToolBox also includes complete scripting
